Premium Toilets

Premium Toilets

RM1 per entry. Approximately ¥26. Includes a receipt which you can probably use to claim when whoever you claim from. And no, there wasn’t anyone in there waiting to help wipe your ass. But unlike most public toilets in Malaysia, this particular one at Low Yat was reasonably clean.

To date, I have paid twice to enter restrooms in Japan. Public toilets are 99.9% free. The two occasions I paid, I was hiking. Mt Fuji and Mt Tateshina. It was ¥100 per entry. But it was a public toilet in the middle of nowhere. There was no one guarding the doors and collecting money though. The ones that I’ve been to accept people to be honest.

And we are all honest aren’t we.

Balik kampung

Tags:

The Malay term “balik kampung” refers to returning to one’s village. In most cultures, there’s always a period where people balik kampung. In the States I believe it’s Thanksgiving and Christmas? In Japan, it’s always over the new year or during the o-bon period. For Malaysian Chinese, it’s always during lunar new year.

Took these photos on my previous iPhone 3G on our way back in January 2009. Can’t believe it’s been a year.

田中;「お正月実家帰るの?」
けん:「うん、balik kampung です。」

DDD – Dunkin’ Donuts Drive thru. Have yet to see a Dunkin’ Donuts in Japan yet. Donuts are huge in Japan, but not so in Malaysia. Those round snacks with a hole have some pretty stiff local competition.

Chinese sausages

Chinese Sausages

Didn’t consume enough chinese sausages for lunar new year this time around. We usually eat at a family friend’s restaurant, but he has retired since then. And so my consumption this year slumped to just 1 dish.

The term “chinese sausage” is pretty generic. These sausages come in all shapes and sizes – even taste and names! Some are made with pork, others with duck liver and even some with chicken, beef, turkey, mutton and fish!

With the high fat content, these sausages usually don’t do wonders for your health. But the good things in life usually don’t. ^^.

Can you name every chinese sausage in this photo?

If you’re interested in the price, here’s a link to a large image.

KLCC 17

The Petronas Twin Towers are the world’s tallest twin buildings to date. They tower over almost everything and anything in KL.

The twin towers were featured in a few movies. The most notable of which was Entrapment. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Remember that movie?
