The first 2 episodes of Gundam 00 season 2 had me sitting on the edge of my seat! I was waiting to see 00 in action and man was it good. A harmony of man and machine… maybe it was just luck. ^^. Watch the episode if you want to find out more. I won’t give any more spoilers; these two pictures are the only ones (I promise). I am a little intrigued by all the tech words that they used. What is a tropological defect?

Sunday, September 14th, 2008Oh no! Gunota is closing down after 5 years. Except for overstaying my welcome and browsing through the hobby mags at bookstores, Gunota has always been where I went for Gundam-related news. I’m quite sad that they’ve decided to stop blogging, but it was their choice to make. And I don’t think they made it lightly. RGZ, thanks for Gunota and good luck in your future undertakings. Neo-Era, I wish you a full recovery soon.
This has me thinking… There will probably come a time when we’ll be in similar shoes. I won’t say I’ll go on forever, but I’ll go on as long as I can. Gunota had a good 5 year run. How long do you guys intend to keep blogging?
Gundam 0000 Robot Spirits
Monday, August 18th, 2008The one thing that impressed me at the Gundam Expo that I attended recently was not the huge Gundams on displayed nor the fantastic dioramas. It was this ROBOT魂 (Robot Soul/Spirits) figure. Anything that uses ABS plastic catches my attention. ^^. I’m going to just translate/paraphrase from the poster in the first picture. It might not be a good translation, but you get the idea.
What is Robot Spirts:
It’s been about 10 years since Bandai raised the curtains and introduced robot figures. [Robot Spirits] is a new brand which is a direct result of years of product development. Standing at 12cm tall, a composite of methods including the latest in 3D design and artisan techniques were used in the robot’s extraordinary construction; hard, smooth and soft materials were all used to pack in an amazing feel to the figure, achieving a high quality product that leaves conventional robot figures in the dust!

1) Approx. 12cm fully painted posable model
12cm fits nicely into your collection. The price for the main line is about 2000yen. A model that can be enjoyed anytime. (The right size and the right price)
2) Hybrid Materials
Construction, articulation, weightiness, durability…
A mixture of many materials were used to satisfy the many requirements of posable figures. (A high quality finished product is achieved by utilizing the special properties of the various materials)
3) Sharp finishing
Exterior, weapon parts are produced with hard ABS plastic. (Very real mecha feeling)
4) Flexible movement
To prevent abrasion in the joints, superior POM (Polyoxymethylene) is used. Smooth joint movements. (Bend the joints as much as you like, go on, play hard!)
5) Weightiness and durability
Superior flexible PVC plastic is used to reduce shock in the core portions of the body. High density materials give a good feeling of weight. (You can feel the value in your hand)
6) Hybrid Modeling
A hybrid of 3D modeling and hand modeling/molding (combining digital data and the artisan’s skill) is employed to maintain a sharp mechanic feel and heroic robot style. (Consistent level of detail and dynamism)
7) Same manufacturing process as 超合金魂 (Cyougoukintamashii or Soul of Chogokin, a line of super fine robots made by Bandai)
Using the same manufacturing processes of 超合金魂, from the design staff to the die molding process, techniques usually reserved for high end items were lavishly used. (No mistakes super great manufacturing techniques with TLC)
Unified world scale
Unified product scale, fits into any collection or diorama. Large-sized mecha not limited by 12cm frame, has big-sized plans for commercial realization. (Adds appeal to any collection when displayed alongside other larger or smaller robots)

So, what do you think? Something to add to your collection? I’m probably going to get it just because it has ABS on it. Maybe make it sit next to EVA01 on my external harddisk. ^^.
At Gundam Expo Tokyo 2008
Friday, August 15th, 2008Spent an afternoon in Ikebukuro at the Gundam Expo. My first time there, so I didn’t know what to expect. As one would expect, lots of Gunpla. ^^. Most of the event goodies are gone. They were probably gone on the first day… not that I wanted any. What I did want though, was to take a look at the new Exia from the second season of Gundam 00. The two cones don’t look too bad now. In the beginning, I was kinda complaining that they looked like overgrown shoulder pads. ^^

I took quite alot of photos. The mercury was pretty high today and I’m pretty worn out. Heat does that to me. You too? So… check out my flickr page for the photos. About 140 of them are there. ^^ Some photos are blur… but can’t complain there, since I opted not to bring the SLR but the compact R8 instead. An experiment. I wanted to see how the R8 would fare. I missed the control of the D80, but the R8′s great for marco though.
Gundam Expo Tokyo 2008
Friday, August 8th, 2008
I picked this up from wonfes a little earlier.
There’ll be a Gundam Expo next week from 8/12~8/17, 1000-1800 everyday in Ikebukuro Sunshine City. Entrance is free. On the first day though, there’ll be a special talk event involving two voice actors. The voice actors for Amuro and Char. So if you’re a big fan, you might want to just consider being there on 8/12 1130. I apologize for the poor photo. The part about the special event is unreadable due to the glare at the bottom right. But, at least you can see Char’s picture.

There’s also another special talk event from the MS IGLOO series on the 16th from 1300. Featuring two other voice actors. This event also includes the selling of some commemorative Blu-rays and DVDs. Are you a fan of any voice actors? I find it a little difficult because you only hear their voice, but it’s associated to a different “face”.
Anyway, you can check out more info over here. Includes some event only goodies. ^^. The main event I think is going to be about the second season of Gundam 00, which is going to start showing this October. Anyone excited about it?
Gundam 00 Season 2
Friday, July 11th, 2008Well, it seems like the new mecha for the second season of Gundam 00 is out. No major changes. From the pictures, it looks a little cartoony… and having big engines on the shoulders remind me a little of 60-70s fashion when big shoulder pads were the ‘in’ thing in ladies fashion ^^. Check the pics here.
Cosmic Region 7003 – Strike Freedom Gundam (take 3)
Sunday, May 4th, 2008Alright. I promise, this will be the last post on my Cosmic Region Strike Freedom. You must be already bored reading my previous posts (1) and (2). But after seeing the Full Burst Mode MG kit with the gold wings, I got inspired. It’s amazing what a little paint and a brush can do. It required a few coats, but it looks pretty good. All I need to do now is to find a way to hang all those dragoon units… Something in conspicuous. Any ideas?
