Izu #1

Izu Panorama Park

This view was taken at the top of Mt Katsuragi at the Izunokuni Panorama Park (伊豆の国パノラマパーク). Was passing through the area and decided to drop in for a visit.

Izu, also referred to as the Izu peninsula (伊豆半島, Izu-hantō), is within the Shizuoka prefecture south-west of Tokyo. It’s an area prone to earthquakes because of its vicinity to where two tectonic plates collide – the Philippine Sea Plate and the Okhotsk Plate.

But as a result, it is also a place abundant with hot springs (♨♨♨onsens♨♨♨)! Guess where I was headed.

Went down to Yokosuka for a day trip. Not too far away. Just about 40km from Yokohama. Been taking alot of trips out of Tokyo lately. Japan is more than just Tokyo. ^^.

Yokosuka is home to the United States Seventh Fleet and the aircraft carrier USS George Washington.

Enoshima Aquarium

I didn’t take too many photos at the aquarium. I kinda forgot about taking photos once I was inside because I was busy trying to read up on the exhibits. It’s just like food. Sometimes you get so carried away with eating, you forget to take photos (if you ever take photos of food before you eat). Besides, it’s somewhere you want to visit firsthand, not from photos. ^^.

I did take some photos from shows. There’s the uogokoro show where a diver will introduce some fishes to the audience and the dolphin shows.

Enoshima Beach

Enoshima Beach

It wasn’t exactly the best day to be at the beach, but at least it didn’t rain. Surfers all waiting to catch a wave. Kinda reminds me of my time in Sydney.

This is Enoshima Beach in Shonan. Not very far from Yokohama. About 40km south. It’s a nice place to just go chill and enjoy the sea breeze.

Enoshima and other bits

It’s nice to get away from the city once in a while. Having been in Tokyo for quite some time, I recently long to explore areas outside Tokyo.

So we rented a car and set our navi to Enoshima! (Navi or ナビ refers to the car navigation system in Japanese.)
