First Sunrise 2012

first sunrise 2012

Spent new year’s eve in Kagoshima and new year’s day waiting for the first sunrise (hatsu hi no de – 初日の出) at Yoshino Park.

Didn’t manage to get a clear photo of the sun like I did for previous new years, but I’m quite happy with this one; the sun rising just to the left of ash-spewing Sakurajima.

My ritual for this new year is complete!

Happy New Year!

Christmas 2011

Hachiko

Christmas came and went by pretty quickly this year. Not being a public holiday in Japan, it was good to have christmas eve and day falling on Saturday and Sunday; a christmas weekend.

This post is a little late, but I hope everyone had a good christmas and got what they needed. ^^.

what do you see

what do you see?

The other night, I remember driving home and wondering why so many people were out looking at the night sky; there was a lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, earth and moon are in alignment, with the earth blocking the sunlight from reaching the moon.

Ever wondered how a lunch eclipse looks like from the moon?

I guess, standing on the moon, I would be viewing a solar eclipse. ^^.

there is no finish line

there is no finish line

Just me standing in front of a NIKE wall plaque that reads “there is no finish line”. Another variation of “the journey is the reward”?

Taken at a pretty cool cafe in Shibuya. Bonus internet cookies for those who know where it is. Hint. They serve up an awesome latte.

What do you do when you find yourself alone at the meeting spot?
