It was a pleasant surprise and I ended up buying a copy of each.

In general it says you can nicely arrange your photos and create a personal collage – which is exactly what I aimed to achieve with Photo Mess.

A simple text editor with a twist. Created this for times when I’m writing long documents and need an extra view to see what I’ve written elsewhere instead of scrolling all the time.

I wanted a clock with a minimalist design that only told me the time, date and day. Removed everything else. Also wanted a clock that “pushes” me through the hour. If you don’t need an exact time, Tokei will approximate it for you.

The numbers rise every hour and every minute.
For hours, 00 at the bottom and 23 right at the top.
For minutes, 00 at the bottom and 59 right at the top.

I’m not a big fan of “Mon”, “Tues” etc. So I decided to use Japanese kanji to display the day of the week. I’m sorry, but you *have* to learn a little Japanese.

月 (Moon, getsu) Monday
火 (Fire, ka) Tuesday
水 (Water, sui) Wednesday
木 (Wood, moku) Thursday
金 (Gold, kin) Friday
土 (Earth, do) Saturday
日 (Sun, nichi) Sunday

To help you remember, let me tell you a story my Japanese teacher told me many moons ago.

You are getsu-ing ready to leave.
You drive your ka-r to law school.
Today, you will learn the process of sui-ng someone.
You make a mistake, your friends are moku-ing you.
But you are kin to get it right.
So you do it again.
And you found your nichi as a future lawyer.

I don’t know where he got it from, but it sure helped me remember my days in Japanese! ^^. Enjoy!

Update: (What’s new in version 1.1)

1) Double tap to cycle through all the modes until you get to the new “Kanji” display mode. Who said reading the time in 漢字 was difficult? ^^.

2) Also added in a battery indicator. Green light shows more than 60% change. Yellow for between 30-60% and red for under 30% charge. When connected, nothing shows.

Have fun reading the time in Kanji ^^.

I wanted an app for myself that lets me jot down dimensions on photos real quick. I didn’t like jotting down sizes in notebooks and forget what the object I was sizing up looked like. With this app, I could “kill two birds with one stone” so to speak. I hope you will find it useful too. Available at the App Store.

I feel a little bad charging you a buck for it, but I’m currently an unemployed grad student and I need to eat too. ^^. Will be adding more functionality as I go along.

Don’t just take notes of sizes anymore! Instead of writing down “Sofa A is 100cm x 60cm x 40cm” in a notebook and forgetting what Sofa A looks like, write it directly on the picture. That way, you will know the Sofa A’s and exactly how it looks like.

If you’re on an iPhone, this application lets you take a photo with the built-in camera and add size labels in it.

If you’re on an iPod Touch, you can add size labels to photos in your photo library.

The fastest way to draw a line on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Pinch outwards to draw a line and a text label will appear. Click on the label and add sizes or notes directly in your photos. After that, just click save and it saves itself in your photo album, never to be forgotten again!

Extremely useful when you’re shopping for new furniture! Or just wanting to size things up. ^^.

I made a little iPhone app for looking up LaTeX symbols. I hope those using LaTeX typesetting for writing academic papers like me will find it useful. Suggestions, recommendations and positive feedback etc. are always welcome. You can check it out at the iTunes App Store. By the way, did I mention it’s free?
