Why I am tired
I found an old piece I received in an email a very long time ago, when Singapore’s population was about 3million (when was that?). Thought I’ll share it with you.
How about a Red Bull shot when you’re tired? AU$4. Given today’s exchange rate, that’s about ¥350, or SG$5.
For a couple years, I’ve been blaming it on lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job. But recently, I discovered the real reason:
I’m tired because I’m overworked. The population of Singapore is about 3 million. Of which, 700 thousand are retired.
That leaves 2.3 million to do the work. There are 1.5 million in school, which leaves 800 thousand to do the work.
Of this, there are 400 thousand who are employed by the government – they do no work. Thus leaving 400 thousand others to do the work.
Another 200 thousand are in the Armed Forces, Police and Civil Defence, which leaves the remaining 200 thousand to do the work.
At any given time there are 154,000 people in hospitals, old folks home, etc. leaving 46,000 to do the work. Now, there are 45,998 people in prison.
That leaves just two people to do the work.
You and me.
And you’re sitting at your computer reading jokes.
No wonder I am tired.
If Red Bull shots aren’t your style, which size is you?
