Start of Golden Week

For those who took today off, Golden Week started yesterday. My Golden Week starts now! We in Japan have an extremely long weekend – all the way till next Wednesday. What most people did was to take today and next week’s Thursday and Friday off. That gives a total of 11 holidays! In Japanese, a long holiday is referred to as 連休（れんきゅう, renkyu). I’ll probably just hang around Tokyo. Plan get some work done so that I can escape and enjoy a holiday during the off peak season. ^^.

What would you do with 11 consecutive rest days.

Anyone visiting the world expo at Shanghai?

    Hope you’re having a great Golden Week. I arrive in Tokyo on Sat 8th, just after it’s finished, so hopefully everybody will be back to normality by then, though I doubt if Narita will!

    Japan has such a great outlook on public hollidays, unlike the UK where we barely get a week’s additional leave throughout the entire year for public holidays…
