Hackintosh

Hackintosh

One of the things I lurve about Japan is the abundance of magazines. There is a magazine for almost everything you want to learn/read about. From current affairs to fashion to sneakers to girls to guys to “how to twitter” to Hackintosh.

A whole magazine dedicated to the art of hackintoshing!

Hackintosh

There are step-by-step guides for quite a number of computers you can load up with Mac OS X. A random example, this Toshiba Dynabook.

I prefer the real deal.

Do you Hackintosh?

I prefer the real deal too, I just want everything to work right out of the box. But, if I ever need something ultra portable and the iPad won’t do, I might consider a hackintosh. But now that they announced the camera kit for the iPad, I really think I can bring an iPad instead of a laptop when I’m on the go^^

I haven’t tried a Mac yet, it looks interesting but pretty much everything in America only works with Microsoft so I don’t know which I want to get

I prefer Windows actually. But yeah, Japanese magazines are great. Especially “mooks” — magazine / book hybrids.

Well, the Atom-powered Toshiba is bound to be cheaper, if that’s what you mean.

I did install OSX in my MSI Wind notebook before, it was before I got my iMac. I used it as a way to try out OSX, but of course the experience is a bit difference when the screen is only 1024 x 600 and the trackpad is like 1/4 size of a MBP trackpad. Plus the webcam didn’t quite work. I am sure there are other Hackintosh that are more successful than what I attempted but now I love my iMac and don’t think I will bother doing another Hackintosh.

I’d prefer a real Mac, if I could buy one.
