Manga textbooks

Manga Textbooks

This is something I found recently at the university bookshop. Manga textbooks!

マンガでわかる (manga de wakaru) loosely translates to “You’ll understand with Manga”.

These textbooks are about pretty advanced subjects. There’s 電子回路 (でんしかいろ) electronic circuitry, 量子力学 (りょうしりきがく) quantum mechanics and 熱力学 (ねつりきがく) thermodynamics!

Manga Textbooks

I think it’s a novel way of introducing difficult subjects. You learn as you read through the story. You like reading Manga?

Might not be particularly useful for people already knowledgeable in the subject (probably definitely not), though it could give ideas on how to go around explaining difficult topics.

Manga Textbooks

At last, a non-manga page! Yummy. ^^.

Any electrical engineers here?

Although grad school for me was all about mechanics, I did mechatronics in my undergrad. Back then, I found my electrical engineering subjects challenging because I had a hard time visualizing the physics behind it. Maybe if I had this… ^^.

Manga Textbooks

The textbooks seem to be pretty popular with the students. ^^.

Watch out. Otaku’s coming to school!

  1. I was a biomedical engineer in university and had the most difficult times with the electrical courses. Conceptually I found them challenging. Manga textbooks would have helped :(

I believe some of these manga textbook has been out in USA for a while. I found a The manga guide to: Molecular Biology (in English)’

    http://www.amazon.com/Manga-Guide-Molecular-Biology-Science/dp/1593272022/ref=pd_sim_b_4

There are also English version of Manga guide to Calculus, Physics, Database, Statistics, and Electricity.

I believe UK did a Manga Shakespeare to help people learning about Shakespeare.

However, can Japan make a Manga guide to First Person Shooter (FPS) game? I know FPS doesn’t get that much love in Japan and I think a manga guide for that can probably make a difference for them. If that happen, I bet you a guarantee that FPS game sales in Japan will rise thanks to the manga.
