On the way home
On the YCAT bus to Narita airport. Ever chinese (lunar) new year, I make a trip back to Malaysia to spend time with family. Having lived overseas for most of my life, this is about the only time I fly back each year.
I flew with JAL. Got a “free” ticket from miles accumulated over the years. Glad they were still valid after JAL went into bankruptcy. There was a long queue at the check-in counter. Guess many Japanese are traveling this weekend since Thursday is a public holiday.
I got a Ricoh GR Digital III recently. Pretty impressed with what this little guy can do. Been experimenting with black and white photos. The loss of colors does make everything look a little more dramatic. Don’t you think?
Saw 3 movies on the flight. Surrogate, 20th Century Boys part 3 and Law-abiding Citizen. Surrogate was much more enjoyable than I anticipated. I found out who was “tomodachi” in 20th Century Boys. And Law-abiding Citizen had me jumping out of my seat whenever a character was assassinated. JAL’s in-flight entertainment was surprisingly good.
Of the 3, I would recommend Law-abiding Citizen. “This is it” was showing, including “Where the wild things are”. But I was committed to watching those 2 in the theatre room at home. ^^.
Curry with scallops was surprising good. Salad too. I gobbled up everything. The only thing I drank was Sky-Time. JAL’s original yuzu juice. Love it. You can sometimes find it at certain vending machines throughout Tokyo.
I did notice something. Drink servings got larger. That’s great! Used to come in a small cup that I usually finish in 1 gulp. Guess the airlines figured out that if you give larger portions, the pretty air stewardess won’t have to walk up and down
Nice clouds. What I find amazing about flying over oceans is seeing a lone ship sailing across.
Finally see Land.
And a happy face greets me at home. ^^.
Do you live overseas? If so, how often do you make a trip home?
