First Snow 2010
The weather girl was right when she said it’ll snow Monday night. I forgot to bring my sneakers in.
We don’t get alot of snow in Tokyo, usually just a day or two in February. For 2010, first snow in Tokyo fell on the first of February. 1′s and 2′s, 2′s and 1′s.
Seems like I can’t do laundry tomorrow morning. ^^. Laundry is a difficult chore during winter. You have more to wash because you wear more layers and laundry takes longer to dry. Envy those friends with dryers. You know I’m talking about you.
I wonder what happened here. What do you see? A gun?
I love looking over snow on a ledge.
This is a nice yellow house with a generous balcony. I haven’t seen them use it for anything yet though. I have a balcony too, there’s a BBQ pit… well, that’s about it. Would have loved to place a small table and 2 chairs out there, but it’s not that spacious a balcony.
Have only used the BBQ pit a handful of times. Looking forward to using it more this year!
You can tell from the empty spot that car number 12 left recently.
My first experience of snow was in Australia. We were on a ski trip to the Snowy Mountains. Coincidently, it was the first time I tried skiing too! ^^.
I still remember waking up on the bus, drawing the curtain and seeing the ground outside covered with snow. It was really exciting. Have you seen snow?
We’re only expecting a few centimeters of snow tonight. That usually means most of it will melt pretty soon.
Even my doorbell got the snow treatment. ^^.
At times like this, taking the elevator is probably safer.
Only had a split second to capture this photo when car number 12 returned. Quickly turned down exposure with a flick of my index finger. Quite happy at how it turned out.
Here’s a little trivia pursuit. Why are the car wipers lifted up?
Snow is pretty amazing isn’t it. I still get excited everything I see snow.
When the slope gets too slippery, one can only get off and push. We all have to get home somehow. ^^.
Panasonic. This came with my apartment. Haven’t used it at all and it still hangs outside without a care in the world.
Well, at least it hangs pretty tonight.
Slopes can be extremely tricky for cars without snow chains.
You know, I started keeping a diary in Japanese. In order to improve my Japanese, I made a commitment to write a page of Japanese everyday. It can be about anything as long as it’s a page long. Typing on the computer doesn’t help in the kanji department. Pen, paper and computer does.
This is what I do. You might find it useful for your Japanese study too. When I want to write a particular kanji but don’t remember the strokes, I look it up by typing it on the computer. When it comes to kanji, I tend to remember the general “shape”, but not the specific strokes. I can easily recognize kanji, but writing it is more of a challenge.
After a week of going through this process, I find myself looking up “everyday kanji” on the computer less often than when I started.
First week long entry can be found here. Of course it’s only in Japanese. Don’t think I’ll ever translate any of those posts into English… Maybe some of the more interesting ones. ^^.
Still have yet to type in the second entry.
Writing a page a day is easy. Typing out 7 pages at one sitting is not so fun. ^^. Maybe I should consider typing it in as I go along…
Is it snowing where you are this time of the year? If not, may you dream of snow tonight.
Sweet dreams.
