Yokohama #1 A day last spring
My Saturday started a little slow. Slept in till lunch time today. Batteries fully charged, but decided to take it easy today. Get some light coding/writing done and that’s about it for work I guess.
Every now and then I browse through my photo library. Take a look at where I’ve been, what I’ve done, who I’ve met. A picture is worth a thousand words and this particular one is no different. It is extremely safe to take a nap in public Japan.
I took these photos a while back during spring last year. I was in Minato Mirai and was taking a short walk to Osanbashi. Osanbashi is probably one of my favorite places in Yokohama. Had some good memories there. ^^.
It was a nice cloudy day and there was a festival happening around the “red brick warehouse”. Also known as “赤レンガ倉庫” akarenga. They have events there all the time. Check their official site for events this week. If beer is your thing, Octoberfest is always held there.
Yokohama’s International Passenger Terminal is located within Osanbashi.
At that time, Yokohama Port was celebrating her 150th anniversary.
It’s quite comfortable inside. Sometimes there are also exhibitions held here.
Just like today.
Reminds me. I haven’t been to a museum lately. Need to get my Art fix. Recommendations?
Osanbashi is a pier that sticks out into the ocean. It’s the oldest pier in Yokohama and has been rebuilt many times over. I quite like how it looks now. Lots of wood, steel and green green grass.
A very popular destination on weekends.
I always marvel at how safe Japan is. If you have your bag at that distance away from you, I’m pretty sure it’ll be gone in no time at all anywhere else in the world. This is something that Japan should definitely export. Japanese safety.
I like grass. Green grass. I also like lying on green grass under a cloud covered sun. That’s the reason why the carpet I have at home is grass green. ^^.
If you’ve visited Japan, have you been here? I know of friends who, when visiting Japan, only go around Tokyo and not anywhere else. Yokohama is also a good spot to visit. Nearby Yamate is also a good place for a weekend walk.
Osanbashi is an extremely popular place for couples out on a date. It’s really one of those few places where you can just lie down with your other half and strength those legs.
Public show of affection is not really common in Japan. ^^.
You can get a good view of the Yokohama Bay Bridge from Osanbashi.
Public Yoga. Notice how only the instructor is male?
Time to head home. Trains, tracks and tunnels.
There are monitors like these at each end of the station. It’s for the drivers to keep an eye out for passengers who rush into the train carriages. A kind hearted driver might reopen the door for you too if you’re in a rush. At least that’s what I like to believe. ^^.

We didn’t. On the day we went it was raining and very cloudy so I think the Sky Deck was closed. When we got to the observation floor we waited for a bit (by visiting the art gallery) and by the time we finished it had stopped raining. I managed to get some pretty cool pictures of Tokyo
