This post is going to be about food. Lots of food. Really. Lots of food. I was watching tv asahi’s Onegai! Ranking (お願い!ランキング) the other day when they were featuring “super-size” (デカ盛り, deka mori) meals. The 3 restaurants they ranked are in Saitama. So if you do live nearby, please give it a try and tell me how it went.
Oh. The picture above, that’s a mega 4kilos worth of solid yakisoba goodness. Think you can handle ¥5000 worth of yakisoba? ^^. Finish it within 20 minutes and you get a ¥10,000 cash prize. Girls get an additional 5 minutes.
Here’s 2kilos worth of katsu-don. Tickle your fancy? It will only set you back ¥1005. Cheap eh?
This is how it looks like when compared to a regular katsu-don.
It’s ENORMOUS!
A super-sized ten-don. Costs ¥1890, weights 2.5kg. Only 20 servings per day.
It simply just dwarfs the regular sized version.
Even the prawns are humongous! 25cm long!
Ten-don scored the most points with the judge ex-middleweight boxing champ Shiji Takehara. I don’t know if he actually finished everything.
I highly doubt so. ^^.

That katsudon looks horrifying! Now I’ve pigged out at BBQs, filling my stomach with as much meat as possible, but I think what kills me is the amount of rice they give you with these mega-meals! But it’s actually quite smart because the rice will just expand when it gets in your stomach, causing you to feel fuller, longer. Have you ever heard of the American TV show, “Man vs. Food”? This one guy basically goes around different restaurants in the U.S., looking for places that have “food challenges”, then he’ll compete in them. It’s horrifying to watch him try to eat his way through a 7 lb (3kg) burger and 5 lbs (2.2kg) of fries.
