I was all set for a great night of live music. Arrived early and was settling in with a Caipirinha in hand.

I ran into someone really really interesting that night. She’s a Japan super idol!

If you really really know Japanese pop from days gone by, you would definitely know of Michiru Maki’s (槙みちる) Wakaittesubarashii (若いってすばらしい).

“Wakaittesubarashii” in English means “it’s wonderful to be young”! Maybe you can add this to your repertoire for your next karaoke session. ^^.

Reminds me… I should start updating my “At the Karaoke” series. Do you find it useful though?

We were lucky she decided to do a samba number for us!

Lead guitarist Mikio Watanabe‘s site. He’s a 30 year guitar veteran! Really amazing on the guitar.

He’s playing “the girl from ipanema” in the first half of the video. Somewhere pass the second minute mark, he starts soloing and that’s when it gets pretty intense!

Portrait videos taken on the iPhone aren’t that bad either!

How do you like the music? It completely blew me away! This was their last song for the night.

Had to get a photo with the band before I left. In addition to being great musicians, they were nice people too. They seemed really happy when I asked if I could get a photo with them.
