Tokyo experiences earthquakes everyday, most of which we are oblivious to. But since last night, I felt 4 earthquakes! If you’ve been following me on twitter, you probably already know that a particular earthquake woke me at around 3am in the morning!
Information on any earthquake as well as tsunami warnings are immediately broadcasted on TV. I also get earthquake information from Yahoo’s weather website.
This is the list of recent earthquakes. All happening around the Izu Peninsula (伊豆半島), a little to the southwest of Tokyo! The earthquakes might have something to do with the recent Mayon Volcano eruption in the Philippines. The Izu Peninsula and Mayon do lie along the same fault line.
Earthquakes and volcanoes are scary aren’t they? ^^.

Yes they are…. Vancouver is overdue for a big one and we keep hoping that it happens somewhere really remote, or have a series of small ones instead of a big one…. How are folks in Japan prepare for earthquakes and natural disasters?

I also felt the one at 5:45am, not the others. However I prefer to use the Japan Metereological Agency webpage.

Having not experienced an earthquake before I came to Japan, I was pretty excited during my first few experiences. But they only kept getting scarier with each passing one.
