Japanese Celebrity Curry

芸能人カレー部

The mercury dipped a few degrees recently and I suddenly had an urge to have some spicy pippin’ hot curry. You know a better way to warm up a cold body? ^^.

There was a new curry restaurant nearby campus and it was the perfect opportunity. Talk about killing 2 birds with 1 stone; the other bird being my habit of exploring new restaurants. The restaurant features curry recipes created by a few Japanese celebrities. Hence it’s name. Geinoujin Karebu (Celebrity/Talent Curry Club).

7 different curries to select from. I chose the curry with a 4 star spicy rating. “Musashi’s sports club type curry”. That beef steak in the photo reeled me in. It was made by a Japanese fighter and he claims that his curry can help improve one’s stamina. Feeling a little out of shape recently due to lack of exercise, it sounded as good as it looked. I just hoped that it tasted good too. ^^.

This is one of the ladies’ favorite. Dried keema curry with vegetables. The secret recipe belongs to Niiyama Chiharu, a Japanese talent. It’s sweet, with a heart.

And here’s my secret to long lasting stamina. At least it will be if it works. ^^. The piece of steak was yummy. Much better than what I expected. I dipped my spoon into the curry and took a taste. There was something… weird… interesting… about it. A few more spoonfuls left me nowhere in deciphering that particular taste.

So, I did something which I should have done earlier, I read the description. “Vegetable and fruit base…”

Fruits…

!!!

That’s it! How could I have missed it. That unique taste is B.A.N.A.N.A! That’s some funky curry voodoo! ^^.

I don’t know if my stamina improved, but I felt surprising refreshed after. The curry I had costs ¥1020. It’s a little expensive, but if you’re in the neighborhood, give it a try. At least once.

And on cold rainy days when one doesn’t feel like having campus curry (or food), there’s also a take-out option. ^^.

oh yeah, curry on a cold winter day is a joy. I like curry, and I really like Japanese curry. When we were visiting, we tried Rakuya and we liked it. I would like to try the Geinoujin Karebu curry if I get a chance next time when we visit Tokyo.
