Colonel Santa Claus

You know it’s almost christmas when the Colonel brings out his santa costume. ^^.

KFC is extremely busy during the Christmas period as most Japanese drop in to buy their christmas chicken before heading home. Those who plan ahead, probably already make reservations. You wouldn’t want to be catch chicken-less on Christmas day in Japan.

Do you have a particular dish you have every year for Christmas?

How will you spend this Christmas? Christmas isn’t a public holiday in Japan, so officially I’ll be at the office working. ^^.

I’ll be in the office as well, though hopefully there won’t be much work to do. No plans for the New Year holidays?

Just the usual 紅白歌合戦 and 初詣 at a nearby shrine in the blistering cold. ^^. What about you?

I’ll be spending it with the in-laws, which means sitting around watching the fighting on TV. Very exciting, as you can imagine!

    Colonel Santa’s Claws…

Everywhere you look in Japan you can find misappropriated culture, but this is one of my favorites. Truth be told, I’ve been in Japan so long now that the Colonel and Santa do start to look alike to me… “Ooooh, you’re going to buy my chicken, hoho…
