this ryokan looks amazing. i’m heading back to tokyo for another quick 5-day trip at the end of March. not sure if i’ll even have time to venture out of the city for another onsen experience in hakone. are there any onsen in the city? i’d feel the trip would be incomplete if I didn’t get in a soak.

Ah, such luxury and what bliss! What’s the name of the ryokan? Hope you don’t mind telling me ‘cos I might try it one day.

This place is in the upper range. Don’t remember the exact amount, but it’s around ¥30,000 per person per night. Some rooms come with a private bath attached. You might want to try those rooms if you’re shy. There’s no mixed baths, don’t have to be shy. what you have, they also have. ^^.

Mind telling me how much it cost for 2 days and a night at that ryokan? Never been to one – shy to bathe with strangers around. I might gather courage to try this onsen there one day. You take nice, sharp and colourful shots. What camera were you using?

That’s generally the case. ^^. But it depends on the location and size of your tattoo too.

this has got to be one of my favourite of your posts. this particular onsen seems to epitomise traditional japan for me. i love your photos.

is it true that if you have tattoos, you’re not allowed to use public onsen?

Thanks! Onsens are great places. They might need a little getting used to. But once that’s out of the way, you can only enjoy your time there. Keep visiting a ryokan and onsen until it becomes second nature! ^^.

I think I’m way to clumsy and uncouth for such a calm and elegant place as an onsen. I’d spend most of my time feeling tense, worrying about breaking something or thudding around the floors with my giant American feet

But I love photos of ryokan and onsen – you get chilled out just seeing them. Great inside shots!

I can’t soak in hot bath for too long ^^; I pass out =_= I love the yukata/obi thing tho, maybe should make some for home wear
