Was spending some quality ramen time with my good friend Tomo last weekend in 家系 (iekei) mecca. He brought me to his favorite ramen in Yokohama. He told me the last time he visited for a bowl, he was still enrolled in Keio… quite a number of years back.
You can find Ippachiya on the 10th floor of the Yokohama Sky Building right next to Sogo. It’s only about a 2-3 minute walk from Yokohama station itself. With all the underground passages connecting the surrounding shopping complexes, I sometimes consider those buildings to be within the station as well!
We got there slightly after 1230 and there was a 15 minute queue waiting for us. Famous place this is.
I have a rule. Whenever I visit an iekei ramen parlor for the first time, I always always order their basic ramen. If the basic is good, I’ll be back for more. ^^. My compadre ordered their negi ramen – ramen with lots of negi sprinkled over. The original I had is shown at the top of this post.
So, how did I find Ippachiya’s ramen? The noodles were fat and yellow, but still a little thin compared to my favorite Rasuta ramen. Besides that, it was good. Definitely worth a second visit!
