Kyusyu Jangara Ramen
It’s been a while since I last had some Kyusyu Jangara Ramen. Most of the time when I’m having this particular ramen, it’s at their main shop in otaku mecca, Akihabara. I was introduced to it by a friend who brought me there many suns and moons ago when I first arrived in Tokyo to begin my studies. This particular shop, is in Harajuku.
That’s the menu in alot of words. There are 7 kinds of soup base that you can choose from.
I usually just go with the original. The one on top. Kyusyu Jangara. The 全部入り (zenbu iri) option gives you all the available toppings. Ramen with everything in it. Egg, roast pork, mentaiko (spicy cod rod), kikurage (Judas’s ear?!), green onion, seaweed etc etc.
If you’re in the mood for a thick creamy, and probably full of fat, broth, you can try “Bonjan”. Third one from the top
You can even have a beer for ¥470 to accompany your ramen.
That’s the counter over there. Ramen parlors are very efficient. It’s not uncommon to see 1 or 2 guys serving more than 10 customers at any one time.
I went for their most basic jangara ramen. This is what it looks like. The noodles are super thin. Ramen from kyusyu, particularly Hakata, usually are.
Some extra toppings you can add to your ramen.
Big boss jangara ramen wrote some books. Haven’t read any myself, but was told that it’s very interesting. ^^.
hmmm… did I just hear your stomach growl?
