Shibuya #7 An empty junction

Shibuya Junction Empty

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. An empty Hachiko crossing in Shibuya. Took this photo quite a while back when I roamed Harajuku early one Sunday morning. Even at that early weekend hour, getting a seat at Starbucks overlooking this popular junction required a short wait.

Shibuya Junction

The surreal calm doesn’t last long though. Within seconds, people start crossing from all directions. I know this junction is a very popular tourist attraction for people visiting Tokyo. But do you have something similar where you are? A nice spot where you can just watch crowds of people drift by?

Now I`m living here I`ve realised that the only reason the crossing is so busy is because you have to wait for the lights for SO DAMN LONG. Still, it is pretty impressive.

I think the wait’s only 3-4 minutes. Not too long at all for such a marquee area.

Surreal… Nice shot, I don’t get up early enough these days to get pictures like this. I should “attempt” to do it again especially before going to work.

Or you could “attempt” to do it before going to bed. ^^.

I have never been in Tokyo, the closest i have been was in the Osaka airport waiting for my transit flight to Bangkok :-(

is that crossing the same that appears in the movie Fast & Fouriuos: Tokyo Drift?

    nice weekend guys…..

Actually, if you go to work around 6 – 7am like I do, you see it every day on the way to the station :)

And on Sunday mornings like you mentioned, there are actually many more people than usual, since they’re going home after partying all night in Shibuya clubs, so you can see less people than this if you took a picture on a weekday morning.
