Had a chance to check this camera out at yodobashi the other day. I must say I’m pretty impressed with the design. It pays homage to the original Olympus Pen. It uses the new micro 4/3 system which promises to miniturize our DSLR. It’s a neat camera with the ability to change lens. Olympus also separately sells a lens adaptor which is probably a must if you’re already on an Olympus system. It let’s you use your other Olympus lens with the new “Pen”.
For me, this is a want camera. I’m a Nikon and I have no real need for the Pen. I have, however, been looking for excuses to justify getting it. ^^. Unsuccessful so far though. Right now, I only need two cameras. A big DSLR which comes out occasionally and a compact camera that is on or within an arm’s length away from me. The D300 I bring out when I want to take photos, and my iPhone’s always there when I need it. ^^. Can’t fit the Pen in anywhere. But if I’m getting one, it has to be the brushed stainless steel version. It looks so much better that its white sister.
I’m confused though. What camera category does Pen belong to? It’s not an SLR. There’s no reflux action going on. Nor can it be called a compact digital camera; it’s not pocketable.
