grapher

I had a friend ask me if I knew how a function y^2 – 6y + x^2 + 2x + 6 = 0 will look like. This is a rather easy quadratic function. Taking an educated guess to what it looks like isn’t all that difficult. You could factorize the equation. Or, you could just plot it out with a graphing calculator. Frankly, if I’m in front of my Mac and I want to know what it looks like, I take the quickest way out. ^^. I plot.

If you’re using a Mac, Grapher’s already in your utilities folder. All you need to do, is open it up and type in the equation using latex syntax. Only takes 15 seconds. Grapher is one of the hidden gems in Mac OS X. It’s a neat tool to know, if you work with equations. ^^. It does pretty good work plotting vector fields too.

Neat program to have to assist with the maths topic i’m doing atm, volumes by integration. You can revolve the shapes around axes right?

Grapher is a really neat gem in mac osx. Found it quite by accident, and it has really helped me with some research papers, as it handles mathematical syntax better than anything else i seem to have, and it does produce some nice graphs XD
