Tokyo CGM 3: I poken-ed 64 people

Had a blast at this month’s CGM night. Caught up with many familiar faces. It’s good to know that everyone is well. Enjoyed meeting new faces too! New friends are always a good thing… usually. ^^. That’s Super PR guy Tomo on the left, Ken Lee in the middle and Neil Duckett on the right with his brand new DSLR.

We were a strong 200+ crowd. We outgrew the Fiat Caffe. Moved onto Cafe Riata in Harajuku. I’ve strolled pas this place. First time to walk in. A great place with a cosy ambience. Can’t wait to visit them on a regular day.

“Borrowed” most of these photos here from Steve over at The Western World. Didn’t bring my SLR out to play. ^^.

Although I didn’t stay for this, I heard that people arm wrestled for freebies. They got lucky. I was hungry and left slightly earlier for some grub. ^^.

They had food at the cafe. ¥500 for a plate of finger food. Same price for drinks too.

Pokens were given out to invitees only. Do you poken? A poken is a little cute device that lets you exchange contacts quick and easy. All you have to do is just perform a “hi four” and make contact with the other poken. No more meishi exchanges. Since I don’t have one yet, the poken works great for me. You have to register at their website though. I’ll be carrying it in my bag, just because it’s small and I have a bag. Intend to use it if and when I meet a poken user. It does replace pen and paper. Will keep an eye on how many people I can poken in a month. ^^.

Party people Sam and Kyna.

I brought along a friend of mine to the event. Hope he had a good time. ^^.

I don’t know Matt, but I was pretty excited to meet Shane from Nihon Sun and Chris from Nihongo Notes face to face. It’s always great meeting bloggers face to face. ^^. Chris really looks like his avatar. ^^.

Behold! My poken! Really have to thank Andrew and Danny for such a cool Friday the 13th. ^^.

What I find interesting is that not only do you and other content providers get to network at events like this, but you also get new readers who discover your site purely by association with the event. I found your site through DannyChoo and love your content. Subscribed! =)

Ken it was great to meet you, but man that’s not a great picture of me :(

I too had a great time meeting the people behind the blogs in my RSS reader but I missed quite a lot too! I didn’t quite get 64 people in my Poken but came close.

Hopefully I’ll see you again at the next event.

Is it some sort of Blog meet up? But I’m wondering, if you talk about your daily activities so often on blogs, what do you guys talk about? Must seem like alot of repetition going on haha.
