Here’s a trip down memory lane. The Powerbook 170. How many of you had one of these… or have even seen one of these in the wild? This baby was released by Apple way back in 1991. Care to guess how fast it ran? ^^.
A little more about the PowerBook 170 over at big brother Wikipedia. Did you know that this is the very first PowerBook designed entirely by Apple?
Any happy hacking keyboard fans out there? I’m sure you’ll love the 170′s keyboard. By the way, if you want a happy hacking keyboard, I recommend the new mini Apple keyboard. Who cares if it lacks the numeric keypad. It’s an Apple happy hacking keyboard! ^^.
Thin wasn’t the 170′s forte.
The rainbow Apple.
Apple should really add a marco mode to the iPhone’s camera.
Check out the ports. The only circular ports left on notebooks are headphone jacks and audio-in. Well, those and the kensington slot, which is kinda circular. Not a port though.
Guess where this PowerBook ended up… A little sad ain’t it. How many Macs can you spot in the pile?
I read that the first thing Steve Jobs did when he returned to Apple was to clear the museum and donate the old machines to Stanford. Something about “We can’t look back. We have to look forward”. Look forward we must.

My favorite was the 165c. Will always hold a place in my heart.
