On the road and Mt Fuji
Since some old buddies were in town and there was a long weekend, conveniently called a sanrenkyu (三連休) in Japanese, headed out of Tokyo for a Japanese holiday. I was told quite a few years ago by a Japanese friend in his late 30s that the perfect Japanese holiday is to visit the countryside, soak in an onsen ♨, spend one night at the ryokan, have breakfast and dinner in the room (部屋食, heyasyoku) and head back to work the next day. Was quite different from my idea of a holiday. ^^.
Headed south along the highway out of Tokyo. We were headed to Yugawara for some skinship soaking in the onsen. With Tokyo at our backs, Fuji san gave us a majestic greeting!
There’s still quite alot of snow up there.
Took this photo just before noon. Great weather!
Managed to take photos of Fuji san because we had a toilet break. ^^. See the green sign in the background? It says “to i re, →”.
In the backseat of a buddy’s Toyota Mark X.
Be careful of merging traffic.
It was quite a scenic drive along the sea.
Old cars are only allowed to go at 40. ^^.
The sea smelled quite ok. Much better than the beach at Kamakura.
Some locals were fishing too. Sparked talks on whether we should all go fishing next time. Haven’t been fishing in Japan. Would like to bring a sushi chef along too. ^^.
I think that’s Odawara caste in the far back.
Anyone know this landmark? Drove past it and no one knew who they were.
