McHotDog Classic

photo

Good morning folks, this isn’t my breakfast today. It was on Monday though. Mcdonalds had this special breakfast-only McHotDog classic over the weekend. Probably had something to do with the World Baseball Classics going on. Japan didn’t do so well. Ichiro left feeling rather disappointed after losing the last game 0-1 to South Korea.

Anyway, more about food and this McHotDog Classic!

単品 (tanpin) for if you just want the hotdog. ¥220. If you want a little more, the セット (set) goes for ¥420 and comes with complimentary coffee (refillable) and a hash brown…. called hash potato in Japan.

photo

¥840. 2 sets. Went with a junior, also called a 後輩 (kouhai). That usually means I’m the 先輩 (senpai). ^^.

If for some reason, you hate hash browns, there is a coffee-hotdog pair set which burns a ¥300 hole in your wallet.

I can never get over this. It’s called a Happy Meal! Not a Happy Set! Has anyone seen Madagascar 2? I haven’t even seen one.

Coffee for the big boy and milk for the growing boy.

I didn’t know mcdonalds’ milk in Japan came in such nice packaging.

Burgers and hotdogs always look better in the posters don’t they? There’s this joke I know. When I heard it, Clinton was the prez. Here it goes.

At the end of an official meeting in the US, the Chinese President wanted to go out and see Washington. So Clinton being the good host, took him out for a ride. Halfway, Clinton saw a hotdog stand. He told his chinese counterpart, “You have to try this, this is great American food”. So he bought 2. One for himself and one for his guest. When they finished, he asked his Chinese buddy, “So what d you think of our American hotdog?”. To which, he got this reply.

“In China, we also eat dogs. But we just don’t eat that particular part”.

There’s ketchup and mustard. Was pretty tasty. Downed it all under 3 minutes though.

“Made for you”. Isn’t that nice. ^^.

Well, sorry about the late post. I know I should have done it during the promotion period, but it’ll be back. Next time with the McHotDog Nano and the McHotDog Touch too. ^^.

    Lol @ the joke.

That hotdog looks none too chummy, then again I would eat it just because it is a hotdog. The attendant in the second photo does not look too pleased that you are taking a photo.

Ken, if you like hot dogs, which I do, I recommend Madison Park Cafe at Tokyo Midtown. They have a few kinds of gourmet dogs with some wild toppings.

I found the joke kind of offensive… especially since it was a fictional stereotype of Chinese eating dogs. Most people don’t touch that stuff. Koreans have traditional dog soup, but teenagers would never touch it. No whale meat joke?

Is there a whale meat joke? If so, why would it be appropriate to mention it here? There’s no disputing whale meat is eaten in Japan either, i’ve had it … it’s quite nice and i would have it again given the opportunity.

Not so sure how fictional it is either …. maybe the blanket statement saying it doesn’t happen is no different to the once saying it does.
