Ramen Don (ラーメンどん)
Ramen Don ラーメン どん. Pretty much similar to Jiro Ramen. Shoyu tonkotsu (soy sauce pork ribs broth) ramen. A bowl of this costs ¥650. Very popular with the students. Volumetrically cheap!
Front entrance. I find it rather yellow.
This ramen was featured in Yokohama Walker, the magazine for everything cool in Yokohama.
A closer look at the photo reveals ramen in the front and tsukemen in the background. Tsukemen’s popularity has been growing of late.
お好み (okonomi). Configure your own bowl with parameters: noodle stiffness, amount of oil, richness of taste, extra vegetables and garlic topping.
一生懸命(issyoukenmei). Working very hard to bring you good ramen.
Ticket vending machine. Money in, tickets out. Redeem free ramen with tickets.
Cosy store.
There’s this photo on the wall. The difference between normal and extra vegetables. A small hill to a mountain…
That’s a whole spoonful of fresh garlic on the top of the heap. Garlic keeps me going all night! Stamina! ^^. But it comes with the smell.
A glass of milk is in order after this. To wash out the taste of garlic.
Here’s a map to the place. Again, “X” marks the spot.
I finished it all this time. Plan of attack for this kind of volumetrically cheap ramen is to down the noodles first. Use your chopsticks to flip it around and start your attack on the noodles. Vegetables and stuff, that’s the easy part and it comes naturally after the noodles. Noodles first = no soggy noodles at the end. ^^. Good luck!
