They were distributing this leaflet about 3 days ago in Shibuya. Seems like there’s going to be a demonstration on the 8th. 使い捨て解雇は許さない!職場も寮も占拠して闘おう!生きさせろ!トヨタもキャノンも麻生もぶっ飛ばせ!Along the lines of “No to unfair dismissal! Bring it on! Let us live! Let’s give Toyota, Canon and Aso the wallop of a lifetime!
This brings to mind an interview with Howard Stringer I watched on Eigo de Shabera Naito (英語でしゃべらナイト) . I need the English lessons. ^^. He compared being the CEO of Sony to being the captain of a ship. When the everything is smooth sailing, he worries about the crew. But when something happens to the ship, he worries about the ship. Another thing comes to mind… a Star Trek episode. I’m a Trekkie too. ^^. Can’t remember which episode, but it was the TNG series and Counselor Troi was taking a command test. Riker said something similar, “My responsibility is to the ship”.
hmmmm… I don’t know where I’m going with this, there were just images flying around in my head. Isn’t there another solution like pay cuts and innovating? It depends on the situation, but I would take a pay cut than be out of a job. But then again, it’s just me. Maybe if I had some savings, it might be a good chance to pursue something else.
But I guess the situation with temp workers is quite different.
I’ll be graduating before the year is out. Not a very good time to be out looking for a job… but I’ll remain optimistic. More of a half-full kinda guy. ^^.
