First sunrise 2009
What’s your strategy for catching a sunrise? Pulling an all-nighter or waking up early? I had a little bit of both. Caught myself the first sunrise of 2009! In Japan, the first sunrise of the new year is called hatsu hi no de (初日の出). Literally, first sunrise. It’s a big thing in Japan. Many Japanese do try to catch the first sunrise. Get a good start to the new year.
I didn’t have to go far, just somewhere in the neighbourhood where there is a good foreground for sunrise photos. Nothing having the silhouettes of lines and poles. I wasn’t alone. There was this couple that was admiring the first sunrise whist standing in the middle of the road. I guess head silhouettes also look nice. ^^.
Then again, maybe not.
You got a nice spot nearby for taking sunrise photos?
Sunshine.
I saw this old guy. When he turned the corner and saw the sun, he stopped, stood still and gave a slight bow before proceeding. I don’t know what you call it, but if you were to ask me what I like about Japan, that’s one thing I like about Japan.
The road took a turn on the way home.
Although a daily event, don’t you think sunrises are just magnificent?
You managed to catch the first sunrise of 2009?

If you stay up long enough at night, you will. ^^. You catch the sunrise where you live?
