Cosmic Region 7003 - Strike Freedom Gundam

Bought this gundam a while back. Strike freedom has to be one of my favourites. I even have the master grade model locked up tightly in my cupboard... awaiting the day I get my own airbrush! Was messing around when I took these pictures. It was pretty late at night and I was getting crazy ideas. As you can see, this figure is pretty detailed for its size. However, I was thinking of adding some modifications. hmmm... maybe this can be a before shot. With golden week (continuous public holidays in Japan) around the corner, I should be able to find some time to get around to it. In fact, let's do it! Let's do that and take some more photos! Maybe next time round, he can pose with his big guns ^^.

Browser compatibility

I've been told by some friends that they are experiencing some problems opening this site with IE7. IE7 opens it for some friends and for others, just tells them that "IE7 cannot open the page". I'm still pretty green in the whole web design/browser compatibility business, so I don't know what could be causing it.... although I've read that designing websites to be compatible with IE is a pain ^^. Anyway, chanced upon this CSS Selectors test-suite. Safari seems to pass everything with flying colors. Firefox on the other auto, didn't quite make it (doesn't mean I will start not liking it). The one thing I like about Firefox is Firebug. That's why I have it around in my system.

Macbook Air ad spoof

Saw this spoof on youtube today and it got me all defensive ^^. haha. nah. While some prefer the x300. Me, I love my mba. It's sleek, it's cool and It snugly fits new foofbag I bought recently. Ride the wave dude! If you're wondering, foof only makes bags for macs ^^. I haven't had a need to plug in an external disk drive nor a usb hub. The only usb I plug into it is a tiny usb drive that slots into my pocket (and not forgetting the display adapter when I do presentations). The trackpad with multitouch of course works great. You can tell when you unconsciously start to perform a "swipe" (3 finger gesture on the trackpad) with it. I'm sure the x300 is a great machine for many. But, I'm just head over heals in love with my mba ^^.

Places to eat in Roppongi - R Burger

Had lunch at this cafe. It's kinda like MOS burger in that they do premium burgers... full of collagen! Might be a good place to start frequenting if one wants to stay looking young ^^. A burger with white buns bursting with collagen! Not something you see everyday.

The most 人気があるバーガー (popular burger) is the チキン梅バーガー (chicken with sour plum sauce). Don't know what to get? Can't go wrong with the one that's popular with customers. I found the taste to be a little more on the feminine side. A good date place too perhaps ^^.

Ingredients used include 1000mg or marine collagen, insecticide-free Shiso leaf made from "Mist Method" (Don't ask me. I don't know what "Mist Method" means), fresh vegetables and natural salt. Next time I visit, 黒酢バーガー (Chinese black vinegar burger)!

"Juicy 100% Japanese pork patty matched with a healthy black vinegar base additive-free sauce. With insecticide-free Shiso leaf and radish pickles makes a marriage of Chinese and Japanese taste!"

That was written in the English menu... I had to rewrite it a little (some grammatical and spelling mistakes... there is a world of difference between putty and patty).

It's right next to Tokyo Midtown so you can always go shopping after. Oh yeah! Midtown is having their one year anniversary sale. Can't believe it's already been a year since they opened. And I've only been there like.... twice.

Foofbag

Woo hoo! It's a good thing I stayed in late this morning. Spider sense was tingling when I got up. Something was going to arrive today. And I was right! My foofbag arrived! Woo hoo! Now I won't have to use a makeshift sleeve for the macbook pro to protect my mba (macbook air) when I'm on the go. I've been looking for something cool to house my mba in. Envelopes you say? That's so cliche. Back in the day when I was still with my 12" powerbook, I had a sleeve from radtech. That was a way cool sleeve. It was extremely thin and extremely unobtrusive. Getting another for the mba would be good too. Could also use the optical grade cloth to wipe the screen whenever it got dusty. But nah, I thought I would go with something a little more creative. My sis has a pink foofbag. So I checked out their online store. They have some pretty neat sleeves with aesthetic prints... and I was just carried away by the green waves. Since I was in Japan, why not go for a Japanese look ^^. What do you think? Doesn't my foofbag look like a nice comfy pillow?

Made for Japan

Just a follow-up to my recent post Adidas heaven in Roppongi. Here's a picture of Made for Japan declaration that is on the shoe! I found this here. Seems to be the official website of an Adidas Originals store all the way up north in Hokkaido! It's all in Japanese, but at least you'll get to check out new Adidas Originals goodies. Everything is listed alongside its price. No confusion there ^^. Be quick if you want though... I'm not sure if it'll last long. Might be a limited thingy.

シブカサ (Shibukasa)

In need of an umbrella in Shibuya? Look around for stores supporting "shibukasa". You can probably recognise them by their 3 umbrella logo. It's a pretty neat organization. They use left behind umbrellas (if it stays in lost and found for more than 2 weeks, it's up for grabs) and lend it out to anyone who needs it. Return it and you'll get 50R of Earth Day Money which you'll get to buy things with. I wonder how many people will actually remember to return it though... And will this hurt umbrella sales? ^^

saw this first here at Japan Today.

Nuttin but Stringz

Saw this duo on the weekly showbiz countdown. Didn't manage to find the actual video but did find this kid friendly one ^^. Check out their strings. These guys have some seriously cool rap-violin harmony going. Nuttin but stringz presents Thunder! A little reminiscence of Vanessa Mae. You like?

Adidas heaven in Roppongi

Guess who moved in to Roppongi Hills? Not Nike, not puma... but Adidas! I reckon Adidas now has a pretty huge presence in Roppongi. Count 'hem. 1. 2. 3 stores! There is the Adidas performance brand, the one with your favourite 3 stripes. There is also the the Taylor-made brand, which should fulfill your every golfing needs and desires. And my personal favourite, Adidas originals with the maple leaf. I don't really fancy the 3 stripes performance brand. The only 3 stripes I like are those running down me arms when I have me originals jacket on ^^. Hence you only see photos of the originals store. Anyway, I saw 2 cool must-have-but-no-cash-to-get items today. I saw this really cool jacket. The jacket has a bright red-orangey base and blue stripes. The other, was a pair of sneakers. The sneaker had a few cool characteristics.
1) Gone are the "Made in China", or somewhere else declaration, it proudly declares "Made for Japan"!
2) Some parts of it is made of cotton and get this, it has a tatami inner sole! Wanted to take photos, but I felt kinda shy since I was wearing an Adidas jacket... Maybe more so since I was only intending to snap a shot and not buy anything. I'm easily embarrassed you see ^^.
3) Supposedly designed to care for the environment. There is an ECO fad going on. There was another pair of sneakers made entirely, or at least I was told, or recycled sneakers. There wasn't any smell at all.
Well, like I said, must-have-but-no-cash-to-get. There's a morale behind this post. At least attempt to snap a shot of those must-have-but-no-cash-to-get items. If not, there's always the snap-and-make-a-run-for-it-hoping-that-they-don't-give-chase maneuver ^^

ジンギスカン (Dschinghis Khan, Genghis Khan?)

I don't know if any of you have heard or seen this song. It's a pretty old song, back in the 80s. It might be old, but it's pretty well known and there's a new cover! Check out the original song. The German group, as well as, song's name is Dschinghis Khan and remember, it was back in the 80s during the disco era (or at least I think so). Try not to laugh at the retro costumes ^^.

Now check out the new cover by a group of young (high school maybe) Japanese girls! Berryz工房 or Berryz workshop. They are like a successor to Morning Musume. You'll probably heard of them ^^? Anyway, check out the video and tell me what you think.

hmmm... tough choice isn't it ^^.

Catch 22

I finally got round to finishing this book. Bought it quite a while ago to read on a flight but ... well, can't beat blockbuster movies ^^. So I set myself to read a chapter or so every night before bed. Sometimes when I reached interesting chapters, I go on for a few more. It's a good book. The story gets a little sad as it progresses, being about war and all. But it's really funny. Would you believe me if I told you I was laughing by myself in the dark bedroom at 2-3am with only a lamp by my side (maybe not only a lamp ^^)? It's one strange sight, if you can imagine it. If you don't know what catch 22 means, look up your english dictionary for catch-22. You'll find it there. Read any good books lately?

Open candy wrapper with 2 fingers

Was offered this candy at a meeting today. My host didn't realize it, but I saw an interesting little piece of information on the wrapper. It says「かんたん開封」, which translates to "easy to open". All you have to do is push the sides of the wrapper and the candy (yummy) inside will come out with a "pop". Just like popping open serviettes on restaurant tables ^^. I've got a little video of it in action too! Watch me open a candy wrapper with 2 (count 'hem 2) fingers! What do you think? Ain't it cool or what?

Walk along Meguro river

Didn't make it when sakura was in bloom, but I did take a walk along meguro river. It was after visiting a friend's photo gallery in Osaki. The weather was good and we decided to take a walk to Naka-meguro station (instead of being lazy and taking the Yamanote line). As you can see from the map, it's quite a stroll. I think we took about 1.5~2 hours just strolling along the river. From Osaki there are some pathways for people out on a stroll. Sometimes the pathway is only on one side of the river whilst there's a narrow road on the other side. So if you happen to find yourself on a road with cars parked along it, you might want to look for the nearest bridge and walk across. Just point in any direction along the river and you'll see a bridge ^^.

It's really green now, but I can't wait to go back next year when sakura is in full bloom! You know any good places for a weekend stroll?

Tamiya Plamodel Factory

Another post on a cool hangout place I discovered in Tressa Yokohama. Tamiya Plamodel Factory. This place is beyond cool. It has a shop where you can find everything Tamiya. Models, tools, paints, you name it, they've got it. But that's not the cool part. Right next to the store, there is an atelier zone. Atelier zone... yummy. For those who can't wait, you can start building your model straightaway after paying for it. And that's not all, there's a master around who can give you tips on modeling. And that's not all! They have air brush booths in that zone. Paint and air brushes are BYO (bring your own) or BFTS (buy from the shop) ^^. There's even a small corner with some lighting setup for you to take photos of your completed models. Isn't that cool or what!!? Alas! It's not free. They recently opened so there's a discount on using the studio. But it's not that bad. On a weekday, spending 30 minutes there will set you back ¥400; 4 hours for ¥2800. On weekends it's slighty more. There's also a membership system. If you're a member, you'll get a slightly cheaper rate. Unless you have a spare room at home, spending time there means no more modeling mess to come home to ^^. Should have taken some photos of the actual store, but next time I guess. The next time I get there, I'll be there for a few hours ^^. Decisions, decisions. I gotta go alone or else I have to find something in Tressa for the other half to do during those long hours...

NARUTO 疾風伝 (Naruto Shippuuden) filler begins

Just when I had high hopes of the anime catching up to where the manga is currently, they started a filler story! For the unfamiliar, a filler story is usually used when the anime gets dangerously close to the story's point in the manga. Basically to sidetrack and delay progressing the story in the anime. I've been reading the manga and I don't think the anime is dangerously close. It's like me and graduating. Not even remotely close ^^. I don't think they were planning on getting to the current point in the manga within the year!
Well,.... hey! Maybe there is another reason for the filler episodes. It's to attract people back to watching the anime. A little bonus story that's only available in the anime... nah... I'm more interested in watching the cool fight scenes depicted in the manga. You know, the fights in the main story arc. And there are so many!
Please don't sidetrack too long.

This is Ivy League

Ryan gave me this link to a band called This Is Ivy League. Great music. I've embedded one song here from YouTube called "London Bridges". It's a great song, but please check out the link! There are 4 featured songs there. You'll do good to check out "Viola". It rocks!

Outgrowing iWeb

My friends who have been to my previous blogs knew that I was using iWeb. I took the basic themes and modified them within the GUI. That was ok for a while until I wanted to do more "advanced" stuff. I dug deep into iWeb's package. Looked into the xml files which defined the themes. Read up on what 11Mystics has to teach if you're interested. Long story short, the xml files were confusing, although I created a great looking theme (yeah right. ^^), it wouldn't publish. Everythi
