I’m sure if you’re been to a game center (or arcade), you would’ve seen UFO Catchers like these. Lots of goodies in there for a coin if you’re skillful enough with the controls… very skillful indeed. ^^.
There is this Japanese friend of mine who loves playing UFO Catcher. Not for the prizes, but just for the challenge and thrill. He must be pretty popular with the ladies. And he’s good. To the extent he gives out his haul as gifts. Look what he brought me from his last trip to the arcade.
Feldt from Gundam 00.
You a big fan of Feldt? I’ll take her out for a photo shoot sometime soonish… Just realised I haven’t posted anything remotely otaku. ^^. Apologies to my readers who come for otaku content but ended up reading my rants about Christmas being a pain in the a**. I’ve got some figures queuing up for a photoshoot… well, Feldt is at the end of the queue now. ^^.
Do you visit arcades? I used to visit them alot. But with work these days, it’s hard to find time. … ok… I lied. I suck at playing video games now. ^^. The only games left that I can spend a decent amount of time on with a single coin are shooting games, Time Crisis, House of the Dead etc. Wonder how long that will go on. Does UFO Catcher count as a video game?
December 2008 specific info. Shane over at Nihon Sun happened to procure a copy of Arcade Mania!, a book about the history and current state of the gaming scene in Japan and she will be giving it out as a prize to one reader who can answer some arcade trivia. It’s free. So feel free to stop by and give her trivia a try. I think it will be easier than UFO Catcher. ^^.

I love these arcade games, but in my case it’s usually cheaper just to buy whatever is inside from a store instead ^^

Usually I just randomly pick up any interesting game to play, nothing like fighting / racing games though. More like the fun game one, something like Bishi Bashi that’s my favourite… =D

Arcades. I only go there for competitive games, which I do not even do now. :\
Still, they were a good place to start out for actual gaming. Arcade culture is radically different from home gaming.

Winning a copy of Arcade Mania! will definitely be easier than getting a prize out of a UFO catcher – I promise.
I’m not a big gamer but have been know to try my hand at Taiko Drumming from time to time.
Thanks Ken for sharing my contest with your readers – it is appreciated.
