Spent a day working up this new look on December 30th. New year 2009, new look. Pretty usual right? ^^. Now that I’ve been blogging for a little while, I accumulated bad blogging habits. And to accommodate those bad habits, I’ve rearranged things around. Hope you like it. ^^.
A major change. I’ve gone and done away with the header. I reckon that since you’re coming here, you would already know where you are. Besides, the header takes up some of your screen’s real estate. ^^. Instead, I’ve introduced a “midder”! For quite a simple reason. After reading the, hopefully, insightful post, surprise! It’s like just landing at a new page! … and also for those who get into a post here from somewhere else and wouldn’t know where they are. ^^. What do you think of this whole “midder” idea?
Some screenshots from broswershots. Need to make sure it renders properly. Seems to work correctly for most browsers, except for IE… why am I not surprised? Older versions of firefox also seems to have some problems (don’t know if you can call it a problem) placing the search box on the top right. But for the newer versions, it seems to be working well. Chrome does as good a job as safari, because they use the same WebKit engine I’m sure. ^^.

What’s your primary browser? According to the data I have, most of my readers are on firefox.

I really like this new look! Having a “midder” instead of a header is good as it makes things clean. However, a really small logo + name (maybe the dannychoo.com style) would be good in my opinion since there’s really not much one can use to identify this blog except for the url. How about changing “blog” to “kenleewrites” or something like that?
Anyways, that doesn’t really bother me but it might be good for new visitors. Good work anyways, and Happy New Year!

i always felt that a header pic is important. a nice header pic helps to attract and leave an impression on new readers as well. ^^

After using it a while, it seems okay.
I like the slimmed header, but i agree it does leave out some sense of impression. Maybe it’s possible to automatically scroll past the normal header with javascript onload, and if the user likely scrolls back to the top they will see it as expected.
Also, I almost missed the search box function if not for that magnifying glass icon

as I remember, with your last blogs appearance, the 1st thing I like from your blog was your header pic. It was really attract me =)
