Went shopping for a humidifier recently. There are only a few places to go for home appliances in Japan. Yodobashi is my favourite hangout. I like the service there… not to mention, I’ve got lots of points too.
Winter is here and the air is rather dry. Heaters and humidifiers are the “in” thing. Yodobashi has also gone to great lengths in creating this “which humidifier is you” guide to help you part with your ¥¥¥. Basically there are 4 types of humidifiers. From left to right – steam, hybrid, heater-less, ultrasonic. The yellow row “Point” (ポイント) goes from left to right again – recommended for bedroom, popular choice, safe, quiet. Don’t think I need to translate the other pros and cons… do I? Anyone interested?
I decided on getting this Electrolux beast of a humidifier. It’s a hybrid (ultrasonic and steam). Costs about ¥200 to ¥600 per month to operate. It was listed in one of the 3 decision points next to the price. Wished I took a clearer picture.
First point was “hybrid humidifier”. Second was the serviceable room size and third, the monthly operating costs. Great info don’t you think?
My 2 cents. Minimalist design and dead simple controls (just 2 knobs!). Love it.
