Samba Carnival 2008

Samba Carnival

I went to the annual Samba Carnival in Asakusa last Saturday in Asakusa. I was hoping for a great show, but this year’s carnival turned out to be a very wet event. It really poured down in the later half of the event. Before it really poured though, the dancers were still dancing in the rain. When it got really heavy, I kinda left (don’t know if they continued the show). >< So did most of the big lenses that were surrounding me. What about you? Will you brave a heavy downpour for an outdoor event?

Thick gray clouds in a distance… not a good sign. A few moments later, I could see the rain approaching. You know those times when you look at something far in the background and it’s fuzzy because it’s raining there? Well, it happened to me. It wasn’t much later before the rain came.

I was kinda disappointed by the rain. I think the dancers were too. They must have spent so much time preparing. Anyway, I hope it doesn’t rain for next year’s carnival!

Thanks for the coverage! Nice photos ^^.

Too bad for the rain, I was planning to go after Chara Hobby too but it was like you said, it’s fuzzy outside so I decided to stay at the event and went a few more rounds to see if I miss anything.

Last year samba were awesome though, lasted through the entire 5 hours in Sunny day.

I do take some large clear plastics bag in case of light rain. But I will never risk my camera still.

Hmm, it depends on the event but, I’d definitely brave it if the time was right!

Next time you’re in Asakusa drop into the Taki Hachi restaurant and say hello to Miyuki for me. Ah, memories.
