Yes, we throw our hats!
The smart kids put our names in them, so we get them back.

The graduation at my high school in Japan was kind of a big deal...
all the parents came, but that was the real extent of family members.
I think it was kind of just like ANOTHER ceremony for everyone, 
because there were so many assemblies and ceremonies!
But everyone was saying how nervous they were.

Japanese graduation is definitely very different than American...
We&#039;re required to rent gowns and wear hats, we have restrictions on the clothes we can wear underneath as well as shoes and when the ceremony is over we have to give the gowns back before we can get our actual diploma!! We just get the &quot;cover&quot; onstage. So we don&#039;t steal the gowns, I guess? But we get to keep the hat!!
