Yakitori 焼き鳥
Yakitori (焼き鳥)is one of the 11th wonders of Japan. Charcoal grilled chicken (both inside and out) on sticks. Kushiyaki (串焼き)is the more general term, referring to any kind of charcoal grilled meat/vegetable on a stick. Can’t really say it’s Japanese satay, the only similarity they share is being in the meat-on-a-stick food category ^^. Yummy.
This place seems like a chain restaurant. Name’s Akiyoshi (秋吉). They have many branches around. Check their website for more info if you’re interested in dining there.
I met some old buddies for a meal that night. One I haven’t seen for maybe 2 years! He seems to be doing fine though. In Japanese, there is a term “相変わらず (aikawarasu)”, which means a little along the lines of “he hasn’t changed. Still the same as usual.” Quite a convenient phrase.

The menu. It’s pretty cheap. Prices are for 5 sticks.

It must be hot standing behind the grill all the time. Too bad the fan on the way doesn’t blow ^^.

At this particular place, if you sit at the counter, stuff is served to you on the counter! Pretty unique arrangement. Sure saves space. Let’s see…. these are chicken and spring onions.

There’s beef tongue, pork liver, more chicken and some insides. I like insides. Things like liver, giblets etc. sets my saliva flowing. What sets yours?

Here you have chicken skin, tongue (beef or pork I don’t remember. They have both kinds and we had both kinds ^^) and more chicken and spring onion.

By the time we left, there was already a queue. See how popular this place is ^^.

Try it something when you’re in town. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. ^^. I wasn’t.
