Man was I surprised when I check my Softbank bill online!!! ¥200,000 in data packet charges was just a little too much for me to stomach…. >< I was just about to overreact until I saw the words in red (on top). Special discounts etc have not been taken into account.

Just FYI. I’m only paying slightly less than ¥6000, but I’m raking in ¥200,000 worth of data packets! Isn’t that a good deal or what. ^^

haha. relax. those are just data charges before the special discounts are applied. i will only pay ¥5985. If i didn’t have those special discounts, i wouldn’t have any cash left to buy figures. ^^

LOL I was the same as you except I did overreact and called up softbank to double-triple confirm.
Cause mine.. is rocking hard at half-million yen.
They should really change the online bill for iPhone, they even have FAQ on their japanese page for that LOL.

Last month my bill hit 700k and it fell after the discount to 4200. This month, however, is a different story. So far this month I have 255mb up and 1.3GB down and my bill is rocking 1.8 million yen right now. I know the discount will kick in but its really unnerving until it actually does. I can only imagine how terrible it will be when they forget to discount my bill at some date in the future. I have heard of it happening so….

Jorge, fyi. 1 packet is 128bytes That’s how they sell their data services: by the packet. 1 megabyte is 1 million bytes, 1 million / 128 bytes = 7812.5 packets in a megabyte. Regular data rate on the white plan is 0.21 yen per packet. That’s 1640 yen per megabyte. After the discount, it is 0.084 yen per packet, bringing the total to 656 yen per packet. Finally, the charge is capped at 5985 or 4200 depending upon when you signed up.
My 1.8 million will drop to ~720k and then be reduced to the correct 4200.
