So, the iphone is finally coming to Japan. There’s already a long queue for it at Harajuku! I’m going to take a different strategy with this one. Since everyone who is someone (including people in armor) will be there covering the event, It’ll be fun to go there and shake some hands ^^. But before I go, I’m going to cover another event and answer another question ^^. What is it like getting an iphone from the neighbourhood softbank shop? Is there a queue, is the iphone even available there?!? It better be! Or I would be really pissed ><. Anyway, I’m going to get some early shuteye tonight. Have to start early tomorrow! I do hope I can land my grummy paws on one tomorrow… or is it today already. Wish me luck!

So, how was it ? Japanese people are being skeptic about iPhone though since they said that the technology of iPhone was not superior than other phones.

yeah. it doesn’t have 1seg or mobile money, but well, technology isn’t everything ^^. i think elegance and ease of use will be a major deciding factor for people choosing the iphone. apple has a knack for making complicated technology simple and elegant. and many people get that ^^. even if it means taking away features it deems not “currently” useful.

I think your statements contradict the features of Macbook Air.

how so? what are the features and what is the contradiction?

(Not exactly a feature) It took away DVD drives which ARE still useful, making things complicated for people who want to watch movies or look for the data they had burned into a CD/DVD before.
Elegance yes, but ease of use, I don’t think so. However I agree that Leopard itself is easy to use.

are dvd drives still useful? ^^. i don’t know. but speaking from my own experience, i have not been using the dvd drive on my old powerbook (before i got air) since 3 years ago because of 2 words; “USB drives”. so without it on the air doesn’t affect my work. even if i needed to use it, i could still get an external or “borrow” one over the network. as for dvd movies, yeah, i haven’t been using my portable to watch dvds since i usually do that at home on my imac or on my ps2 (which is connected to my big tv) ^^ so i guess if you’re still working with burning dvds and cds, the macbook air might not be your perfect machine. then again, there’s always the macbook ^^

That’s because you have the network in the university and you have an iMac or other computers in addition to your macbook Air. If the macbook Air is alone itself, that will be very inconvenient. How do you install Leopard in the first place anyway if I may ask ? Is there any Leopard-fitted USB stick ?
BTW, I heard it decreases PS2’s age if you use it to play DVD a lot.

like I said, the air is not a machine for everyone ^^ if you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you don’t. Use whatever that works for you. Btw this was sent from my iPhone!
When the ps2 goes, I’ll have an excuse to upgrade ^^
