Was wondering if I needed thumbnails for photos posted in a blog entry. I thought I could live with a pain limit of about 100kb for each picture… so I tried to keep the size of my photos around there (if not lower). Until tonight. I had Safari’s activity window opened while I browsed some sites. I found that most, if not every, photo had a thumbnail which was under 20kb! Blogger creates thumbnails for every picture you upload onto their servers, which is pretty nifty and convenient. But I’m not using blogger to host my pictures. Didn’t manage to get lightbox to work with blogger hosted pictures. So I gave up and put my photos elsewhere. Figured I didn’t have the time to troubleshoot and that someone with more time will eventually sort it all out for the rest of us. On hindsight, deciding to host it on my own wasn’t such a bad idea. I learnt a few lessons along the way. One of which is the content of my post today!
Back to thumbnails. Creating thumbnails for each and every picture is pretty tedious. So I fired up Automator! In a minute, created a little workflow to batch create thumbnails. Nothing fancy, but it was a walk in the park. A rather short walk ^^. FInd this useful? I sure did.
