My friends who have been to my previous blogs knew that I was using iWeb. I took the basic themes and modified them within the GUI. That was ok for a while until I wanted to do more “advanced” stuff. I dug deep into iWeb’s package. Looked into the xml files which defined the themes. Read up on what 11Mystics has to teach if you’re interested. Long story short, the xml files were confusing, although I created a great looking theme (yeah right. ^^), it wouldn’t publish. Everything looked fine in iWeb, but a window pops up with a “Unable to publish due to unknown error” message. That was it for me I guess. There’s nothing wrong with iWeb, infact, I still like it. It’s just that I outgrew it. I outgrew iPhoto and started using Aperture when I wanted more robust editing tools for RAW files. I haven’t outgrew the other iLife applications yet and I probably will someday if I get more involved in creating music, making movies etc and want more complex tools. Will I continue to use iWeb? I don’t know, but I have this little experiment/project on my mind that I want to try out. iWeb still has its uses afterall
